2021 Fellowships of the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) have recently been given to Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, and Professor Gang Li from the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, the first recipients of this among scholars in Hong Kong. Both of them have founded their researches on giving hope to patients suffering from bone and joint problems.

Professor Peiyong Jiang from the Department of Chemical Pathology, is the first Hong Kong scholar to become a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors for his longstanding innovative research achievement on genomics and bioinformatics. With outstanding contributions to information processing and retrieval on social media, Professor Wong Kam Fai from the Faculty of Engineering is named Fellow of the Association for Computational Linguistics 2020, while Professor Pascal O. Vontobel from the Department of Information Engineering is elected Fellow of the Institute Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 2021 in recognition of his noteworthy achievement in channel coding on information transmission.

Extensive accreditation made on a competitive basis and assessed by international standards is indeed playing a vital role as encouragement and in narrowing the gap between experts and a wider audience.
